Siglap Harmony Circle (SHC) organised a learning journey with our Advisor Dr Maliki Osman to our Religious Organisation Sree Ramar Temple yesterday evening. The temple is located at Changi Village and greeting each and every devotee / visitor to the ca 90 year old temple is the majestic and holy bodhi tree (Ficus religiosa). According to the Buddhist tradition, lord Buddha was enlightened after meditating under one such tree for 49 days.
After reciting prayers to the diety (Lord Sree Ramar), the temple priest presented Advisor a garland and a shawl. Advisor was then given a tour of the temple and updated on the various activities in the temple which included their outreach efforts with the community. The temple prepared refreshments (tosai and bedai) for us and it was delicious.
We wish to thank Me Rajoo (President) and Mr Vijendran (Secretary) for their kind hospitality during our visit to Sree Ramar temple. We thank the temple for their continued support of SHC and look forward to their participation in our community engagement efforts. One upcoming event is the OneMillionTree initiative by NParks whereby all our ROs will be invited to come and plant a sapling (young tree) at Changi Village on 29 April.
